Ibrahim Afellay Footballer Playing PSV Eindhoven







Ibrahim Afellay (born 2 April 1986 in Utrecht) is a Dutch footballer of Moroccan descent (Rif region) playing for PSV Eindhoven in the Eredivisie. He has played for the Dutch national youth team and is now part of the senior Dutch national team, who he represented at the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa. He usually plays as the centre attacking midfielder for PSV Eindhoven but can also play at the right or left side due to his creative qualities. In 2007, Afellay was awarded the Johan Cruijff Award for "Young Player of the Year" in the Netherlands.

PSV Eindhoven officially proclaimed captain of the team, as well as the Dutch national team midfielder Ibrahim Afellay will not extend his contract which expires at the end of this season. In a statement on the club's official website, PSV says, "For many reasons, not realistic to extend the contract."

Afellay is believed to be leaving the club where he started his professional career in the January transfer window, after ensuring PSV Afellay agree not to leave the club without a transfer fee is quite large.
