The PCB had slapped Rs3 million fine on the aggressive all-rounder after he chewed the ball during the fifth and the final One-Day International against Australia at Perth, after which the International Cricket Council reprimanded him with a two-match ban.

PCB’s legal advisor, Tafazzul Rizvi confirmed The Sports Encounter that the Board has received an appeal from Boom Boom Afridi. He said that the PCB would forward all the appeals by the players to the Board’s governing board and then these would be sent to appellate tribunal for final decision.

It’s important to mention here that apart from Shahid Afridi, Rana Naved-ul-Hasan and Akmal brothers (Kamran and Umar) have also filed appeals against the PCB punishments.

Shoaib Malik was also due to file his appeal, but since he has been busy in his marriage ceremony, he has put off challenging the Board’s decision. On the flip side, Younus Khan is still mulling his strategy against the lifetime ban and was expected to file his appeal with the Board Tuesday but hasn’t come up with the appeal till filing of this report.

Mohammad Yousuf had decided against challenging the ban and took retirement from the game.
