The powerful young German had a breakthrough season in 2009, winning her first career title in Charleston (on clay) and reaching the quarterfinals of Wimbledon, her best-ever result at a Grand Slam. On her way to the last eight at the All England Club, Sabine Lisicki defeated the No. 5 seed Svetlana Kuznetsova and the No. 9 seed Caroline Wozniacki before falling to top-seeded Dinara Safina. Lisicki’s serve is one of the most powerful in the WTA. She lives and trains at the Bollettieri Tennis Academy in Bradenton, Fla.
